DRHS School Improvement Plan
Desert Ridge High School is entering its next cycle of school accreditation through AdvancEd and the North Central Association of secondary schools. Our faculty recently worked very hard to adopt a new mission and vision to carry us into the next four years.
Vision Statement
The vision of Desert Ridge High School is to be an outstanding educational provider in this community where students are prepared to attain their personal and professional goals by:
· Acquiring meaningful knowledge and skills
· Participating in a combination of collaborative learning and independent discovery and
· Developing personal characteristics that demonstrate integrity, respect and self-confidence
Mission Statement
The mission of Desert Ridge High School is to foster responsible and productive citizens by promoting academic excellence and inspiring an attitude of inquiry and an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, while meeting the ever changing needs of our diverse population.
Additionally, we have chosen three target areas for this next cycle that align with the new Gilbert Public Schools mission. We have chosen:
| Math across the curriculum |
| Reading across the curriculum |
| Respect across the campus |
Mr. Coombs is grateful to the members of his NCA steering committee as well as the Principal's Advisory for their advice and help in selecting these goals. We are in the process of developing specific strategies to help us achieve improvement in these three areas. |
